MORE | Management of Real-time Energy Data - A Two-layer Partitioning for Non-point Spatial Data

On the 22nd of April 2021, Dimitrios Tsitsigkos presented at the 37th IEEE International Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE) the research paper: A Two-layer Partitioning for Non-point Spatial Data.

The paper, a joint work of Dimitrios Tsitsigkos with Konstantinos Lampropoulos, Panagiotis Bouros, Nikos Mamoulis, and Manolis Terrovitis, studies the problem of indexing non-point objects in memory. It proposes a secondary partitioning technique for space-oriented partitioning indices (e.g., grids), which improves their performance significantly by avoiding the generation and elimination of duplicate results. The paper presents a novel and easy-to-implement approach that can be used by any space-partitioning index and for boosting the performance of spatial range queries. The paper also includes a study for the efficient processing of numerous queries in batch and parallel.
